Diocese - yamogo

Residents of Yamogo had vehemently awaited for this day.

A section of livelihoods and households have in the recent past changed for the worst after bizarre rituals inclined to sorcery have been reported in the neighborhood.

Homes, schools, businesses have not been spared either as some are now counting losses after pots and chicken eggs were found smashed at entrances of premises and key junctions; an ordeal performed in the dead of night.

The entire Yamogo area has been wallowing in the miasma of the scourge, which has fueled a spike of mass unemployment, retrenchment, alcoholism, terminal illnesses, mental sickness, depression, domestic violence and suicide cases.

This strange phenomenon has its genesis when a new church started in the area four years ago. However, these occurrences have multiplied from the last quarter of 2024 systematically targeting key Church Leaders, Elders and Christians of St. Bartholomew Muchatha West (previously Yamogo).

According to residents of Yamogo, the leader of the said church is responsible for the predicament that has tormented the area, bringing untold suffering.

As if to prove the saturation of their monstrosity, the perpetrator even had the audacity of smashing pots and eggs near the gate of the upcoming Muchatha West Santuary.

The Sixth Mt. Kenya South, Rt. Rev’d Canon Charles Muturi accompanied by Thimbigua Archdeaconry Priests led by Ven. Lois Musyoka, Muchatha Area Dean Rev’d Antony Njoroge, Evangelists, Lay Readers and hundreds of residents spent the better part of today cleansing the neighborhood and freeing homes from malevolent forces as well praying and anointing residents with oil.

Braving the scorching sun, the procession began at Kigwaru off the Muchatha-Ruaka Road a few hundred meters from Ruaka Town. For four hours, they trekked more than 15 kilometers covering the entire Yamogo area while songs of victory to the rhythm of the band announced their arrival.

With a total of 26 stops, they visited affected individuals, homes, and business premises, all direly affected after the late night rituals were administered at their gates.

An owner of a school in the area recounted how all her affairs nose-dived after the breaker of pots visited the school one fateful night. The school, which was fully occupied, is now completely deserted after only a few months since the ordeal.

The priest therein made absolution prayers, breaking spiritual shackles and freeing them from torment. The Bishop spoke blessings upon them cleansing their premises.

Intercessory prayers were also made at notorious junctions that are hot beds of murder and terror as well as paths that are riddled by controversy.

Christians and residents alike later flocked the St. Bartholomew Sanctuary for an anointing service.

“Beware of defiling your faith with foreign beliefs; forget not the first commandment. Remember that the sons of Naomi died after getting wives who worshipped foreign gods.

It should also be noted that when Ruth made a choice to follow the true God of Naomi wholeheartedly, He transformed her from a mere corn gatherer to a farm owner; her lineage too was blessed from which the Messiah descended from.

God can also turn the lives of each and every one of us if we uphold His reign upon our lives because He is our game changer!” Bishop Charles Muturi resounded in his sermonette.

They were hosted by Rev’d Stephen Kiragu with Rev’d Ishmael Muturi, Rev’d Kennedy Kimani, Rev’d Misheck Mwai.
